Option 1: Airport SIM card (easiest)

Option 1: Airport SIM card (easiest)

Buy a tourist SIM at Incheon Airport arrivals. SKT, KT, and LG U+ all have counters. Plans range from about 6,500 KRW/day (LG U+) to 18,000+ KRW for multi-day SKT packages. LG U+ includes a free T-money card with purchase. Staff install it for you. Takes 5 minutes.

Tip: SKT Prepaid SIM has the best coverage outside Seoul if you are visiting Jeju or rural areas.

Option 2: eSIM (no physical card needed)

If your phone supports eSIM, activate one before you even board your flight. Airalo offers Korea data from about $4 (1GB/3 days) to $89 (100GB). Note that 'unlimited' plans are actually 3GB/day then throttled to 1Mbps. Ubigi and aloSIM are alternatives. No Korean phone number, just data, but that is enough for most tourists.

Option 3: Pocket WiFi (for groups)

Option 3: Pocket WiFi (for groups)

Rent a portable WiFi device at the airport. Connect multiple devices (phone, laptop, tablet). Costs about 5,000-8,000 KRW per day. Reserve online through Klook or KKday for 10-20% off walk-up prices. Good option if traveling with family or a group. Return it at the airport when you leave. Reserve online in advance for the best rates.

Free WiFi is everywhere (but slow)

Most cafes, subway stations, convenience stores, and tourist areas have free WiFi. Look for 'KT WiFi' or 'Public WiFi Free' networks. It works for basic browsing but is too slow for video calls or maps navigation. Do not rely on it as your only connection.
