If there is a gap between leaving your teaching job and starting the new role, you may need to switch to a D-10 (job seeker) visa first. 4. Processing takes 1-3 months depending on the immigration office. Critical timeline: you have only 14 days after leaving your E-2 employer to report the change to immigration. If you do not have a new job lined up, apply for the D-10 immediately. The D-10 gives you 6 months to find work.
